Major Types of POWER SUPPLY


All types of Electronics systems employ a DC regulated power supply.

When system shuts down or the electronics system fails, it is mainly due to the power supply.

The service Technician relies on measurements and electronics instruments to tackle the

problem. Thereby, a good understanding of DC power supply is essential.

The Switched Mode Power Supply. (SMPS)

The mainly types of mostly used Switch Mode Power Supplies are as follows.

Pulse Rate Switching Supply.

Pulse Width Switching Supply.

These Types of Power Supplies are mostly used in Computers, Monitors, Color Televisions,

VCRs, Radios, Medical equipments…..etc.

Series Buck type Switching power supply.

Pulse driven Buck type power supply.
